What Is A Public Intellectual Today: Maggie Nelson

The Public Humanities Initiative, and its flagship "What Is A Public Intellectual Today?" speaker series, invite you to a public interview with acclaimed author Maggie Nelson. A far-ranging scholar, poet, essayist, and public intellectual, Nelson's influential books include The Argonauts, Bluets, Jane: A Murder, The Art of Cruelty, and 2021's On Freedom. In On Freedom, Nelson writes: "As we think, we might remember that it matters not only with whom and what we choose to think; it also matters what spirit we choose to think with." Taking up this question in a candid conversation about craft and career, what spirit will public humanists choose to think with today? Dr. Nelson will be joined in this conversation by Mark Greif, English professor and co-director of Stanford Public Humanities.
