The Public Humanities Initiative, and its flagship "What Is A Public Intellectual Today?" speaker series, invite the Stanford Community to CEMEX auditorium on Thursday, May 5th, from 5-6:30pm PST, for a public interview with acclaimed historian Jill Lepore. Dr. Lepore will be joined in this public interview by Stanford history professor Ana Raquel Minian.

As a scholar of history and politics, Jill Lepore has written about everything from the Declaration of Independence to the origins of Wonder Woman. In her book The Story of America, she asserted that "History is the art of making an argument about the past by telling a story accountable to evidence." How, then, might we investigate the way art, argument, story, and evidence combine in writing about history? And what do historians who wish to write for the public need to know?

This exciting conclusion to this year's series will take place in person at CEMEX Auditorium, 655 Knight Way

This will be a fully vaccinated event, only for members of the Stanford community, and face coverings are required.
